Description

The OCAIRO project delivers on the creation of software tools for maturing adaptive radiation therapy methods and sharing valuable datasets across the community. Other interventions (neurosurgery) have been accelerated by the development of open-source platforms. The broad representation of the OCAIRO consortium will provide a critical mass for driving such a development for radiation therapy.

Projects

  • Addition of DICOM-RT support to the 3D Slicer System
  • Development of interfaces between 3D Slicer and the Washington University’s Computational Environment of Radiation Research and the Pinnacle Treatment Planning system (a system used across the consortium).
  • Establishment of a data sharing system for 4D image datasets arising from radiation therapy. Unique sets such as weekly MR for Head & Neck RT, weekly MR for cancer of the cervix, weekly FDG-PET for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, serial MVCT for radical lung therapy, serial cone-beam CT for Head and Neck, each with segmentations completed by expert users are to be added to this unique resource.
  • Establishment of a Dedicated Computing and Support Team. This team provides consultation to researchers across the consortium and will develop key ‘middleware’ to allow adaptive processes to come to life.
